Start stretching and prepare to get your joggers dirty for The Ponds Parkrun on November 25.

First launched in May 2015, the timed 5km running course begins at The Ponds Community Hub every Saturday at 8am where runners will be lead on a mixture of concrete and grass paths.

“We’ve built a tight-knit community here at The Ponds,” run director Rio Lambino said. “It’s a great environment. After the run, people stay around talking to each other.”

The fun and free fitness craze began in Britain more than a decade ago, and its popularity quickly spread across the world.

There are 222 Parkrun locations across the country, with more than 300,000 participants.

Although it costs nothing to take part, runners need to register before their first run and bring a printed copy of their barcode so their run can be timed.

Participants are encouraged to – wherever possible – walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event.

The Ponds Parkrun is organised by volunteers and are always on the hunt for new helpers. If you would like to volunteer email: thepondshelpers@parkrun.com.
