A teenage girl has been offered support after making a false report to police about a sexual assault in Rooty Hill.
The girl, 15, told police she was sexually assaulted by a stranger of African appearance while walking to school on Tuesday morning.
Mount Druitt police launched an extensive investigation with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad.
After reviewing security footage and speaking with a number of people, it was determined the incident did not occur.
The teenager was spoken to by police and has been offered support services.
