Seven Hills Public School celebrates 2017 Multicultural Day

Seven Hills Public School was an array of colour and flavour last week for its Multicultural Day celebration.

Students were encouraged to celebrate diversity by wearing clothing representing their culture, while parents brought in food to share.

Assistant principal Thomas Haynes said they were “overwhelmed” by the response, with dishes to enjoy including Samoan, Fijian, Cook Islander, Filipino, Sri Lankan, Indian, Nepalese and Lebanese.

“I think my principal [Renai Diamond] put it best when she talked about how our school, and public education in general, represents the best of society and what an ideal society would look like,” Mr Haynes said.

“People from all parts of the world with different beliefs and different cultures coming together, working together and succeeding together.”
