Colebee golfer Madelyn Hagerty is looking forward to the chance to play a round of golf with a professional at the NSW Open Junior Pro-Am.
The 16-year-old from Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club will be one of 74 junior golfers from across NSW to be partnered with an Australasian PGA Tour professional to play on the NSW Open course at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.
Madelyn said she has plenty of questions to throw at whichever professional she’s partnered with.
“I’m a bit nervous to play with the pros but we’ll see how we go,” she said.
“I’m hoping to learn a few things, get some tips and hopefully improve my game and get some consistency.
“One of the things I want to ask them is how they deal with the pressure, especially if they’re in the lead and how they keep the lead. They’re simple questions that can help me improve.”
Madelyn admits she’s had a bit of a rough patch in recent tournaments but is hopefully coming out the other side of it.
Currently with a handicap of 4.8, she has had it as low as 3.8 in the past.
Madelyn volunteered to help at last year’s event at Stonecutters before it moved to Twin Creeks this year.
The course won’t be too unfamiliar for her though, having grown up playing at the course with her dad.
“It makes me feel very happy that I was the one selected,” she said. “I’m proud and excited to spend a day with the pros and be around that atmosphere again.”
The NSW Open Junior Pro-Am will run on Wednesday, November 15 at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club in Luddenham, starting at 1pm.
