SUPPORT GROUP: PFLAG, the support group for parents, family and friends of lesbian and gay children, will meet on Saturday, October 28 from 2pm at 175 Hawkesbury Road, Westmead. Details: Judy, 0439 466 125.

PREVENT FIRES: The Hills Shire Council hosts walks and workshops with an emphasis on living sustainably. On Thursday, November 2 from 10am-11.30am you can learn about preventative building and bushfire measures around your home. ANNUAL EXHIBITION: Presented by Epping Cottage Crafts at Eastwood Scout Hall, corner Marsden and Lawson streets, Eastwood, on Thursday, November 2 (noon-6pm), Friday, November 3 (9am-6pm) and Saturday, November 4 (9am-4pm). Quality yet affordable items including hand-painted silk, ceramics, woodwork, studio glass, soft toys, babies and children’s wear, creative needlework, Christmas decorations, cards, homemade preserves and sweet treats.

RETIREES MEET: The Sydney Hills branch of the Association of Independent Retirees meets on Friday, November 10 from 1.45am at Beecroft Presbyterian Church Hall, Welham Street Beecroft. RED CROSS: Castle Hill branch of the Red Cross will hold its last meeting for the year on Friday, November 10 from 9am at Room 1, Castle Glen, 157 Ridgecrop  Drive, Knightsbridge, Castle Hill. Parking at lower end of shopping centre and local bus routes available. HEARTMOVES: A gentle physical activity program suitable for anyone who hasn’t done any exercise in a while. It’s open to everyone and designed to be safe for people with stable health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or obesity. It is run by accredited exercise professionals specifically trained in managing safe, low to moderate intensity physical activity programs. Classes are on Fridays at West Pennant Hills.
