Police seize $3.6 million in cash during raids in Erskine Park, St Clair

Millions of dollars in cash were found at homes in Erskine Park and St Clair during raids by strike force police on Wednesday.

An Erskine Park man, 31, was arrested at Surry Hills police station about noon on Thursday, and charged with money laundering and firearms offences.

Strike Force Millstream detectives searched the homes about 8am on October 11, as part of an ongoing investigation into a “significant” money laundering syndicate.

It’s alleged they found $3.6 million in cash at the properties, as well as a pistol with a silencer, electronic storage devices, and files.

The man was charged with knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime with intent to conceal and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He was also charged with possession of an unauthorised pistol, two counts of possession of an unregistered, prohibited firearm, not keeping a firearm safely stored, and dealing with identity information to commit an indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Friday.

He was the third man to be arrested as part of Strike Force Millstream’s investigation.

Investigations continue.
