For those who can’t afford the airfare to Munich for its world famous Oktoberfest, Winston Hills was the next best thing on Sunday.
Winston Hills Lions Club held its 24th annual Octoberfest family fair day at Lions Park. It was a significant day for the club as its major fundraiser. Proceeds will go towards some of the many community projects the club is involved with.
More than 2500 attended the festivities. The rides and beer tent were among the most sought after attractions.
“The weather was kind to us again and both grown ups and children had a fun time as there was plenty of activity for all,” club spokesman Trevor Cole said. “A final count is not available yet but it is expected $8000 would have been raised. We will use this money to help support various local charities and if necessary, help fund walkers and wheelchairs for disabled children.”
The club would like to say a big thank you to the following sponsors: Winston Hills Mall, Parramatta Council, Winston Hills Family Dental Care and Award Real Estate Chisholm Centre. The 1st Winston Hills Scouts were also thanked for their help on the day. “Thanks also to our members for another successful hard working project completed,” Mr Cole said.
Octoberfest will be back bigger and better in 2018.
