Hills Crime Wrap: P-plater loses licence for six months

A provisional driver has been caught speeding more than double the legal speed limit in The Ponds. 

Police said the Rouse Hill man, 18, was issued an infringement notice after being allegedly caught speeding on Schofields Road just before 11.30pm on Sunday, October 1. Quakers Hill Highway Patrol officers will allege the provisional driver, was detected travelling at 144 kilometres per hour on an 70 kilometre per hour stretch of road. 

He was issued an infringement notice for exceed speed by more than 45 kilometres per hour and was fined $2384.  

The man will also lose 12 demerit points and had his licence suspended for six months.

More than 14,000 people were issued infringements during  Operation Slow Down, the Labour Day long-weekend traffic operation.

Driver caught twice in hour

A motorcyclist with a disqualified licence was caught twice in an hour in Bella Vista. 

Police said the Bella Vista man, 41, was allegedly first seen riding a motorcycle on Barina Downs Road at about 10am on Wednesday, September 27.

Checks on his licence revealed he was a disqualified rider and he was stopped by police and given a field court attendance notice.

About 40 minutes later, the man was seen riding the motorcycle again and attempted to evade police.

He was stopped shortly after and was arrested before being taken to Castle Hill police station.

He was issued a court attendance notice for a second offence of riding disqualified and given conditional bail.

Teen arrested over stolen car

A teenage boy, 16, has been arrested after a car was stolen from a home in North Rocks. 

Police said it is believed the 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen from the driveway of the Williams Road home at about 1.45am on Wednesday, September 27.

Shortly after, the teenager was arrested on Pennant Hills Road in Carlingford in the close vicinity of the stolen car. 

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination and the teenage boy was released into the care of his parents.
