THE Joint Regional Planning Panel will decide the fate of a proposed retirement village development in Oakville on Wednesday, October 11.
Publicly listed company Ingenia purchased the Avina Van Caravan Park for $33 million in 2016, with plans to build a number of retirement homes at the site and other land purchased in the surrounding area.
In October, the company’s CEO Simon Owen told The Gazette the company planned to build about 240 retirement homes. Mr Owen said the company would continue to run the current holiday park and intended to upgrade the capacity for short term accommodation there.
In December, Oakville residents told The Gazette they feared their way of life was under threat by the proposed development and had a long list of concerns.
The meeting was scheduled for September 27, but was postponed for two weeks. It will be hosted at the Hawkesbury Council chambers.
