Who doesn't love to make an entrance? Come on, there's a bit of that in all of us, isn't there. Well, there definitely is when it comes to homes.
Hallways matter. They're the first thing you notice as you enter a house and the last thing you see as you walk out. And, they need carry people from room to room. I think of all seasons of The Block, this is the year where entrances have never been more crucial.
I love that Ronnie and Georgia are continuing to bring drama into their house. Of all the contestants this year, these two are the champions of consistency and continuity. I think their hallway is looking luxurious and dramatic, but I can't shake off the bothersome fact they have put in a Victorian archway in an art deco house. Georgia has a point that she's bringing out the best flourishes in their home but for me, it's a problem. Their laundry, though, is terrific and bang on with what buyers want in a family residence
Hannah and Clint have double the work this week and they've decided to add in mouldings. It will mean a lot more work but it should bring an elegance to the house. I love the drying cupboard they have created in the laundry, and as any Melburnian will know, this is vital. But the loo with no door? Just for the staff who may or may not service the house? Er, no, not necessary. At all.
Sticks and Wombat are doing a sterling job at taking on board feedback and changing past rooms. Talk about an A for effort. They are receptive and responsive. I love their hallway; it's light and practical and their laundry is top notch and enormous.
I had been looking forward to seeing Josh and Elyse's hallway since I first walked into their home; soaring ceilings and beautiful width. I think the light fitting is divine and that wonderful door at the end is genius. What they're in the middle of creating is elegant and refined. Yet I thought their laundry felt a bit light on storage, especially for a big family house. Hopefully they'll follow through with our suggestions of a drying cupboard to help solve that blip.
I was stunned to see what Jason and Sarah have done with their hallway. Stunned. It is absolutely incredible; so good that I feel I could forgive them for their shortcomings in past weeks.

What they have revealed is architectural, practical and, quite simply, beautiful. Their house was blessed with a wide passageway and they have used this to its full potential. Their laundry is also bang on this week. Talk about dark horses.
