HAWKESBURY sporting clubs can apply for grants of up to 420,000 to help promote and encourage women and girls participating in sport.
Applications for the state government’s Local Sport Grant Program are open until October 6.
Hawkesbury clubs can use grant money for new sport programs, upgrades to facilities or projects that improve participation in sport.
“Around half of all Australian boys are active through a sports club during their childhood compared with just 33 per cent of girls, and the participation rate for girls drops sharply after girls turn 12,” Member for Hawkesbury Dominic Perrottet said.
