Fancy serving up a slice of history?
Blacktown Council is looking for Australia’s fastest pizza eater at Woodcroft Lakes Festival on September 23.
But even the hungriest competitors will have their work cut out for them beating the world record.
Kelvin Medina scoffed a 12-inch pizza in a stunning 23.62 seconds in Manila on April 12, 2015.
The “pizza warrior” proved it’s not always polite to eat with a knife and fork.
Acting mayor Tony Bleasdale said he hoped someone could break the 23-second mark.
“We could have a legend in the bakin’ right here in Blacktown – they just need a chance to rise to the occasion,” he quipped.
“The Woodcroft Pizza King or Queen is out there waiting to be crowned.”
Now in its 18th year, the free family fun day will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, September 23.
Woodcroft Lakes Festival committee president Lucas Cayanan said the fair was about doing something for the community.
“The Woodcroft community was new back then, but it’s been growing and growing,” he said.
“The festival is all about bringing everyone together and celebrating what we love about living in Woodcroft.”
Other competitions on the day include a talent quest and dog show, with prizes up for grabs.
Market stalls, performances and a trackless train will be among other attractions on the day.
Only 25 entrants will be accepted for the pizza eating competition, so would-be Kobayashi’s are encouraged to register online now at the Woodcroft Festival website.
