THE Kinder family from Pitt Town are in the process of registering Fly High Billie as a charity, in memory of their beloved daughter and sister, Billie, who was killed in a tragic horse accident when she was 12 years old.
Since Billie’s passing in May last year, the family has made a number of donations in the Fligh High Billie name to help animals and children, in memory of Billie and her love for all animals.
These funds have been raised via sales from a book called Hope, which includes poems, narratives and artwork by Billie.
Now, the Kinder family has put together a range of greeting cards which - together with Hope - can be purchased from Jewellery by a Farmer’s Daughter in Windsor.
Billie’s mum, Danny Mayson-Kinder, said she is looking forward to achieving charity-status for Fly High Billie, and continuing to raise funds for worthy causes.
“The book sales are still doing really well and we have also just made beautiful greeting cards with Billie's pictures and inspirational quotes,” she said.
“Fly High Billie has just made another donation to Bear Cottage, this time towards their Education Fund.”
Bear Cottage’s Education Fund supports the ongoing professional development of staff working within Bear Cottage by facilitating their attendance at paediatric palliative care conferences and workshops.
“For most of the community, unless they have a child or family member who has been cared for in a children’s hospice, they are unaware of the need and the importance of the services children’s hospices provide,” said Ms Mayson-Kinder.
Last year, the Kinder family donated the first profits from Hope to Bear Cottage to fund a year’s worth of food, vet bills and care for Frankie, the resident dog.
Earlier this year, the Kinders hosted a fundraising event to support Assistance Dogs Australia and people living with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Jewellery by a Farmer’s Daughter is located at 132 George Street, Windsor (in the mall). Billie’s book Hope and her greeting cards can also be purchased online at www.flyhighbillie.com.
