GREATER Western Sydney Giants player Toby Greene has been suspended for a second time this season, after again ‘striking’ an opponent.
Greene will miss two games after jabbing Richmond player Alex Rance while playing against the Tigers at the weekend.
Greene already missed two games earlier this year after striking Western Bulldogs player Caleb Daniel.
Greene was not offered a penalty reduction on his latest incident, because of his recent form. Greene also headbutted Sydney Swans player Iaaac Heeney in round five but escaped sanction.
GWS coach Leon Cameron defended Greene earlier this year, but speaking after the round 18 loss to Richmond said he would have a chat with Greene.
"The commentary out of that game [round six] from me was he has to learn with heightened situations in the game," the coach said.
"On today it reared its head and it shouldn't happen. It can cost you dearly. This young kid is worth spending time with. I know his heart is in the right spot, he wants to play footy for this footy club from minute one to minute 120.
"There are areas he needs to tidy up and that's one of them. We'll continue to work with him. I love the way he plays but he's got to make sure he curbs that aggressive side when it comes his way."
The Giants are equal third with Richmond on the ladder now.
The Giants will host the Fremantle Dockers on Saturday at Spotless Stadium.
