IF YOU’RE a parent of a high school student, come to Windsor High on Tuesday evening, August 1 for the Rotary Youth Program’s information evening, as your child could benefit – big time.
All the district’s Rotary clubs have teamed up to offer parents a one-stop shop session on all the youth programs and funds the clubs have available.
Some of the programs are provided through Rotary Down Under and many others are provided by local Rotary Clubs – Windsor, Richmond and Kurrajong/North Richmond. Windsor Rotary’s Barry Kennedy said the information evening was necessary, as “we struggle to get applications for the programs because the community is not aware of how we can help their children”.
“The programs take many forms. They include leadership programs, exchange student programs, enrichment programs, science programs, grants for student ambitions, grants for the disadvantaged, grants for educational purposes and many more.”
There’ll be an expert on Rotary Youth Programs and a youth speaker from each club. Graduates of some of the programs will also be there to answer questions from the floor.
A previous recipient of help, Connor, spent time in a wheelchair because of a back problem and was awarded two grants to help with tutoring, computer equipment and training. He will be there on the night to talk about his experience.
It’s at 6.30pm for 7pm start. Any queries, contact Barry on 0414 752 669 or hawkesburyrotarians@gmail.com.
