Plumpton Marketplace will charge a small entry fee on one day this year to make a big difference out of loose change.
The centre hopes its ‘big change for small change’ campaign will raise between $5000 and $10,000 to support sick kids by collecting gold coin donations on Thursday, September 21.
All of that money would be donated to Mount Druitt Hospital, according to marketing manager Lisa Mourga.
“Plumpton Marketplace will host a community event that aims to make a difference to the lives of local children, and give back to the community that supports our retailers,” she said.
“Supporting families with young children is central to our shopping centre and we see this as an important way to give back and make a difference in our local community.
“All funds raised...will be donated to support a specific need or service at Mount Druitt Hospital.”
Ms Mourga said the initiative was an Australian first, and Plumpton would be one of 10 Dexus centres nationally to run the campaign.
The campaign will be supported by live entertainment, decorations and retailer participation on the day.
Several community organisations will also jump on board to support the initiative.
