AFTER a huge sell-out tour in June of the old Richmond to Kurrajong railway line, organisers have announced a second tour on August 12 – which is already half booked.
Participants will explore the remnants of the old Pansy line which ran from 1926 until 1952, when a landslide and declining patronage combined to bring about its demise.
Tour guide David Griffiths said “with the railway gone for so long, it is becoming difficult to find many remnants, but we will show you what there is remaining”.
“Some of the sections we look at are on private land, including Kemsleys Halt and the concrete bridge over Redbank Creek. Many of the locals on the June tour said they learnt things they didn't know about their local area.”
Tour coaches will depart from and return to Richmond station. The tour cost includes lunch in Kurrajong Village.
Some easy walking will be involved at most sites.
Book at www.kurrajonghistory.org.au or contact 4567 8999 or 4567 7993 or email vicepresident@kurrajonghistory.org.au for more information. Adults $35, seniors $30.
