St Marys Spring Festival will return to Queen Street in September after the event was abruptly cancelled last year.
Residents were dismayed when the announcement came 12 months ago, as Queen Street’s delayed upgrades forced the event to be put on hiatus.
St Marys Town Centre Association confirmed last month the festival’s 42nd edition would come to town on Saturday, September 2.
“The festival has run for over 40 years and this year’s festival is sure to be just as fun and exciting,” the association said in a statement.
“The festival is a long-running community event that sees the community converge on Queen Street on the first Saturday of September to celebrate local talent and community initiatives.”
The event is traditionally one of the biggest days on the local calendar, pulling crowds of up to 30,000 people.
As always, this year’s event will include a showcase of about 220 market stalls, a grand parade and three stages of entertainment.
The association has called for local businesses to sponsor the event.
Applications to performer or book a stall at the festival are now open.
