HAWKESBURY City has defeated St George City FC at Bensons Lane at the weekend to secure the club’s hold on fifth place.
In Football NSW’s NPL 3 competition, Hawkesbury had a 2-0 win over St George in the round 13 match.
Hawkesbury coach Dean Bertenshaw praised Hawkesbury boys Hayden Macerola and Callum Elliot, who both stepped up from the under-18s team to play first grade at the weekend.
Bertenshaw said the pair handled themselves well during the game, despite the big leap in quality from the football they usually play.
The goal scorers were Santiago Pallares and Jason Browne, playing in his first match of the season for Hawkesbury.
In round 19, Hawkesbury will have a road trip to Bathurst to take on the Western NSW Mariners on Saturday afternoon.
“They are quite difficult to beat in Bathurst on a Saturday in front of their home crowd and it gets very cold so it is always a tough match,” Bertenshaw said of the game.
