Seven boxers from two different Hawkesbury gyms will head to Woy Woy this weekend for the Australian National Boxing League National Novice Titles.
Fighters from Warriors Gym in Londonderry and No Limits Gym in Richmond will compete over Friday and Saturday to vie for the title of Australian Novice Champion.
Rhys Farmer, Hayden Ford and Jordan Ranse will compete at the competition from No Limits Gym in Richmond, and Dylan Bowen, Joel Mott, Cameron Power and Daniel Otway will compete from Warriors Gym.
Gym owner and boxing coach at No Limits, Jason Naylor, said he had full confidence in his fighters, who have put in months of hard work leading up to the competition.
“I’m proud of the effort put in by all the boys leading up to the novice titles. All they have left to do now is bring that hard work to the ring this weekend,” Naylor said.
Warriors Gym have done well in past years in the open nationals, but this will be the first time they have competed in the novice nationals.
“The boys have been training hard for these titles.They are keen and I believe are ready,” coach Bob Maitland said.
All fighters weigh on on Friday followed by competition Friday and Saturday.
All they have left to do now is bring that hard work to the ring this weekend.
