A HANDCRAFTED sterling silver necklace depicting Windsor Bridge has won its creator, Oakville artist Jules Read, second prize in the 2017 Emerging Artist Craft Award.
Ms Read received the good news from the team at the Society of Arts and Crafts of NSW this week, at an awards event at the Craft NSW gallery in the Rocks.
“Inspired by my home town’s beauty and the picturesque Windsor bridge I handcrafted a sterling silver necklace and pendant, a wearable piece of art depicting the beauty of the Windsor Bridge,” said Ms Read.
“My necklace and many other beautiful handcrafted works of art can be seen at Craft NSW until the 2nd of July.”
Ms Read is a designer and producer of contemporary and bespoke jewellery, which she handcrafts from her Hawkesbury studio.
Her pieces are made mostly with recycled and reclaimed metals, which are sourced locally. Site, touch and sound all play a part in her designs.
The Windsor Bridge necklace and pendant were completely fabricated by hand using a jeweller’s saw and torch.
