HAWKESBURY Race Club’s chief executive officer Greg Rudolph has not worked in the Hawkesbury long, but in his short time here the region has left a great impression upon him.
“The Hawkesbury region is one of great diversity. From the mountains to the lowlands, from Winmalee to Windsor, there is an array of attractions to suit everyone's tastes, be it visitors or residents. That is why there is a gravitation of people wanting to move here, as greater Sydney expands,” he said.
Mr Rudolph took over from Brian Fletcher in June, 2016. In replacing Mr Fletcher, Mr Rudolph has also taken on the mantle of ensuring the Hawkesbury Race Club is a leading provincial race track, which complements the Sydney metropolitan venues.
While a relative newcomer, he has had to throw himself deep into the Hawkesbury as the head of one of the region’s more iconic business operations.
The stature and history of the race club has certainly not been lost on him either.
“I am fortunate to lead a great team at the Hawkesbury Race Club, one of the region's most historical landmarks, across the racing, leisure and hospitality industries. That helps make it very enjoyable and our aim for anyone who visits here, the same,” he said.
Since taking on the role, Mr Rudolph has presided over the running of the Hawkesbury Stand Alone Saturday meeting, which is one of the bigger events of the calendar year as far as attracting visitors to the Hawkesbury.
In 2017, the event attracted roughly 10,000 people through the gates of the club.
Although 2017 was the first time in charge, Mr Rudolph worked alongside Mr Fletcher, when the latter was trying to establish the Stand Alone Saturday meeting.
Mr Rudolph worked as a NSW Racing steward for many years, before coming to the Hawkesbury, and during that time worked to make the Stand Alone Saturday event a thing.
As for the people of the Hawkesbury, Mr Rudolph said he had developed a great fondness.
“There is a vast array of very talented people in the Hawkesbury region. They have a real sense of community, are passionate about their respective causes and proud of their history,” he said.
