GREATER Western Sydney Giants Jacob Hopper and Josh Kelly were injured at training over the weekend.
It was an unfortunate way for the Giants to spend the bye, with the club losing a number of players in recent weeks thanks to injury.
Midfielder Hopper was due to return shortly, after a stint on the sidelines recovering from finger surgery, however, he rolled his ankle at training on Saturday and is expected to miss a month of footy.
Fellow midfielder Josh Kelly aggravated his hip at training as well, and will face a fitness test to see if he can take to the field in round 14 against the Brisbane Lions.
in some welcome news, however, forward Rory Lobb, defender Nick Haynes and midfielder Will Setterfield are chances to return this week.
The Giants have a host of other players who are still recovering from injury, including Brett Deledio, Stephen Coniglio and Ryan Griffen among others.
The Giants will take on the Lions at the Gabba on Saturday at 4.35pm.
