Girl, 16, charged following alleged stabbing in Whalan

A piece of broken glass was used to stab a woman in the chest during a fight in Whalan early on Saturday morning.

Police have arrested a girl, 16, who is accused of stabbing the 18-year-old victim outside a home on Toricelli Avenue, Whalan on June 17.

It’s believed a fight broke out about 2.15am when the alleged culprit approached a group of females standing outside the house.

When police arrived soon after they found one woman with stab wounds to her chest.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.

The victim was later transferred to Westmead Hospital to undergo surgery.

Police arrested the 16-year-old at a home on Radburn Avenue, Hebersham later on Saturday morning.

She was charged with affray and reckless wounding. 

The girl was granted strict conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday.
