HAWKESBURY City’s first grade team reclaimed fifth spot on Football NSW’s NPL 3 ladder after defeating the Dunbar Rovers on Saturday evening.
Two first half goals at Bensons Lane saw City get over the top of the Rovers by 2-1 in the round 15 match.
A late goal from Dunbar had City on alert for a follow-up, by the defence held on.
After a wash out the week before, and a draw before that, City’s round 15 win was the club’s first in three weeks, and put them on 22 competition points, putting them just one win shy of last season’s total of 25, which saw the club finish in seventh place.
Santiago Pallares added yet another to his season tally, bringing the number to 15, while Kyle Walker got his first for the season.
City will have to make up the round 14 wash out against Dulwich Hill with a mid-week match some time in the coming weeks.
Round 16 will see City host the cellar dwelling Balmain Tigers at 5.30pm on Saturday.
