INJURIES completely derailed Windsor’s first grade match at the weekend, as the team was soundly trumped by Emu Plains in round seven of the Penrith Junior Rugby League A Grade.
Windsor Wolves coach Chris Boyd said any chance the Wolves had of beating Emu Plains on Sunday afternoon was quashed in the first five minutes of the game, when the team lost three players to injury.
Boyd said before the game, one player had to pull out because he was sick, and later in the match another player went off injured, meaning the Wolves finished with 13 fit men.
“We tried our best but we were playing catch up from the start of the match,” he said.
“That is football, these things happen sometimes.”
Boyd said the Wolves were running low on troops for this week’s match with Glenmore Park.
“We're going through a bad trot with injuries and we just have to ride it out and wait for them to come back,” he said.
“From the guys that beat St Clair at home a few weeks ago we've got seven blokes injured.
“We've got a bye the following [the Glenmore Park match] that can't come quick enough."
The loss was Windsor’s second of the season, giving the team three wins from five games.
