THE Hawkesbury’s Nicholas Suman has extended his stint with the Western Sydney Wanderers until the end of the 2017-2018 season.
The 17-year-old joined the Wanderers Academy in 2015 and debuted in the National Youth League at 15.
He has trained with the A-League side and was selected in the Wanderers’ most recent Asian Champions League squad.
“It’s pretty special because I’ve been with the team for the past two years,” Nicholas said.
“It’s a good opportunity for me to keep training with them and show them what I got.”
Nicholas, who was based at Beaumont Hills for the past few years, made the decision to leave high school last year.
He hopes to make the most of his footballing career.
“My dream is to get a gig overseas in Europe somewhere,” Nicholas said.
“I know I’m still very young but it would be a great opportunity to get a gig in the A-League and when I’m a little older get a regular start.
“This contract is really good to give me a feel of the A-League and the professionalism of it.”
Currently a part of the Western Sydney Wanderers National Premier Leagues 2 side, he said he has been enjoying the challenge of playing older players.
Now on a break for the next few weeks, Nicholas said it’s been good to be part of the team.
“We have a very young team and are playing very old boys but we’re playing good football,” he said.
“We try to follow the club’s philosophy of playing good football and showing what we’ve got.”
