A new petition argues for inclusion in this great Australian society, at one of the most iconic traditions of our lifestyle – the Bunnings sausage sizzle.
The petition cries out for change, asking that vegans and vegetarians be included by offering vegan sausages at all Bunnings.
It can be known by other names -- acquired as the Democracy Sausage comfort food offered at the dreaded polling booths -- but the pure combination of white bread, onion, beef sausage and tomato sauce remains a beloved part of the trip to the hardware store.
The classic sausage sizzle remains a stalwart option for community groups and sports clubs to raise funds.
The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle is such an icon, drones have even been used to collect one without waiting in line (the downside being the sausage was cold), and the booking list for groups to hold a sizzle can be more than six months long.
With more than 5,600 supporters, there may be change in the air, welcoming vegans and meat-eaters alike.
