ENJOY the beauty of the season at this weekend’s Autumn Harvest at historic Rouse Hill House and farm.
Kicking off at 9am, the event on Sunday, May 28 features produce and food stalls, talks, demonstrations and tours of the estate.
Hear about Rouse Hill House and farm’s famous hunt lunches from teh Sydney Living Museums curator; hear Jaya Chopra of Eat Me Chutneys’ mission to use excess produce to create ethical chutneys, the idea of food medicine, and 19th century cookbooks which often included whole sections on invalid cookery.
Watch and learn how to become a waste warrior in the kitchen with basic food saving techniques.
Dave Ingham at the farm’s chook shed will show how easy it is to care for backyard chooks for free range eggs and the kids can enjoy a range of chicken-themed activities and meet the cows and horses with farmer Lawrence. You can also take a peek inside the house for a gold coin.
