STUDENTS at Colo High School have been announced finalists of the Sydney Water ‘Brand without a bottle’ short film competition, and now the community has the chance to help them become winners by voting online.
The Colo team wrote one of six scripts selected for this year’s shortlist, and are now up against teams from Bonnyrigg High School, Chifley College Shalvey Campus, Hurlstone Agricultural High School, Muirfield High School and Strathfield Girls High School.
Each finalist school had their script professionally filmed by Sydney Water, and all six films are now hosted online for members of the public to help choose the winner.
The competition challenged Year 7 and 8 English students to recognise their creative skills by writing a compelling short script that shifts public perceptions and encourages people to choose tap water over bottled water.
Liz Minor, Senior Advisor Education & Community Partnerships at Sydney Water said over 50 scripts were submitted.
“Members of the public can help pick a winner by visiting oursydneyourwater.com.au/brand-without-bottle between 29 May to 12 June to share and vote for their favourite film”, said Ms Minor.
Each finalist school will receive a permanent water refill station, refillable water bottles and cash prizes for water projects or resources in the school.
The grand prize is $5,000 cash, second prize is $2,500 cash, and third prize is $2,500 cash.
