Friday’s game was a pretty tough way to go out. Penalties are always a bit of a lottery so being knocked out like that is hard to take.
I thought we were the better team for large parts of the match and if it weren’t for some great goalkeeping we might have been able to add to the goal we scored.
Not taking our chances has been the story of our year in a sense but credit to Brisbane for fighting back and finishing the game the way they did.
It’s disappointing for sure but we have to put that aside quickly and turn our energies towards Wednesday night’s Asian Champions League match against Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan.
It’s going to be a difficult challenge; they’re not top of the group for nothing and we saw what kind of quality they have earlier in the tournament.
We’ll be doing whatever we can to give us the best possible chance of heading into the last game of the group stage against Shanghai SIPG at Campbelltown Stadium on May 10.
