IF YOU’RE working or hoping to work in the food industry, now’s your chance to learn how to handle food properly and understand your legal obligations, with Council offering a food handling seminar on Wednesday, April 26 2017.
Current food legislation requires all workers in a food environment to have adequate food safety ‘skills and knowledge’ for their tasks of employment, to assist them in understanding their legal obligation when handling food.
So whether you are working or intend to work in a cafe, restaurant, sausage sizzle or school canteen, or you are simply concerned with food preparation at home, this course will help you do it safely.
The three-hour seminar will cover personal hygiene, time and temperature, food preparation and storage, and cleaning and maintenance. Participants will receive a take-home summary of the information covered, and a Certificate of Attendance.
It will run from 5-8pm at Hawkesbury Leisure & Learning Centre located at 114 March Street, Richmond. The cost is $51.50 per participant, and bookings are essential at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/environment/health-and-safety/food-handling-training. For those who can’t attend this date, Council will run another session on Wednesday, July 26, and then again in October.
- N.B. Some food handling activities in larger workplaces, in manufacturing, and in high risk food categories require an accredited food safety certificate course. You should consider whether the certificate course is required.
