LOCAL boys Jarryd Faint and Alan Baker are heading-off in their 1978 Mercedes Coupe this Friday on a four-day ‘bash’ to raise money for BeyondBlue.
The pair will join an entourage of around 130 people taking part in the 2017 Beyond Bitumen Tour - a trek organised by Charity Car Events to raise money for the mental health advocacy organisation.
BeyondBlue raises awareness and understanding about anxiety, depression and suicide, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.
The Beyond Bitumen Tour will leave from Nowra on the morning of Friday, March 31, finishing-up in the Southern Highlands on the afternoon of Monday, April 3. Participants will drive on- and off-road through coastal and rural NSW, stopping at some historic country towns along the way.
Mr Faint, who owns Stock Bar & Grill in Richmond, is a long-time supporter of BeyondBlue. He has taken part in the Tour a number of times, however this will be the first time with this particular car.
“Both Alan and I are very passionate about BeyondBlue and think that this is a very good opportunity to raise some serious funds,” Mr Faint told the Gazette.
“BeyondBlue is a cause pretty close to me - I’ve got a few mates who go through [depression] and this is the way I give back.”
Mr Faint wanted to thank the sponsors that helped him and Mr Baker get their car on the road: Vorick Group Electrical Contractors, Kidz Zoo, Stock Bar & Grill, Abuzz Electrical, Richmond Marketplace, Norton Homes & Developments, The Sebel Hawkesbury Valley, First Class Loans, Hawkesbury & Hills District Independent, Pip’s Place, Hawkesbury City Chamber of Commerce, Cameron Stewart Security, Hawkesbury Tyres & More, Jet Man Drycleaners, Font Media Web & Graphic Design, Coldys Towbars & Bullbars, Western Sydney Temping Solutions, Fone Fanatics, and Stick It Sign & Design.
