ST.George bank customers in the Hawkesbury will now need to use the Richmond branch, as the Windsor branch at 160 George Street has closed its doors.
The ATM will remain in the same location, in Windsor Mall, however face-to-face banking will need to be performed at the Richmond branch, located at 245 Windsor Street.
A St.George spokesperson told the Gazette the closure was due to declining foot traffic at the outlet.
“Following a detailed review, we have identified that the St.George Richmond branch is better equipped than Windsor to help our customers in the western suburbs,” the spokesperson said.
“We also identified that fewer customers are visiting our Windsor branch these days and we’ve seen over-the-counter transactions have steadily declined as more people choose to use digital banking channels like mobile banking, internet banking and smart ATMs.”
According to St.George, just five per cent of customer transactions are taking place in branches these days.
All staff from the Windsor branch are reportedly being relocated to other branches nearby.
“We wish for the Windsor community, including local businesses and our customers, to know that the decision to close the branch was not made lightly,” said the spokesperson.
“We have sent letters to our customers providing them with specific information about the changes. We are committed to helping our customers through a number of ways, including face-to-face banking at our Richmond branch or Bank@Post at Windsor’s Australia Post.
“We encourage those who are concerned about their future banking needs to contact us to see how we can help.”
Customers can also access their banking 24/7 through the St.George Internet, Mobile and Phone banking services.
