This past week has been a huge one for us.
Firstly, our 3-2 win against FC Seoul in South Korea on Wednesday night in the Asian Champions League was massive in terms of keeping us in the hunt for qualification.
Unfortunately I was suspended and so I didn’t make the trip over but it was great to see the boys put in the performance that they did away from home.
It now puts us in a great position going into our last three group stage games, two of which are at home at Campbelltown Stadium.
Secondly, last night’s win of 3-1 against Wellington Phoenix was invaluable as it really cements us in the top six with just four games to go in the regular Hyundai A-League season.
To put in such a commanding display just two days after landing in Sydney from South Korea speaks volumes about the character of this side.
We’ve got a five-point buffer over the Phoenix now in seventh place and it really feels as though we’re hitting our straps after some mixed results in past weeks.
By our standards it hasn’t been quite the season we envisaged at the start as we expected to be in a much better position by this time.
But having said that we are all now doing whatever we can to make sure the team gives itself the very best chance for success.
It’s another quick turnaround this week as we take on Melbourne City at Spotless Stadium on Friday.
Another win there would make it three in the trot. And it would send out a big message to the rest of the competition that we’re peaking at just the right time.
