RESPECTED TV and radio presenter Tim Webster has joined new radio station Talking Lifestyle.
Talking Lifestyle was created after the merge of 2UE and 2GB in 2016. After launching in Sydney on 954AM, it expanded into Brisbane and Melbourne a few weeks ago.
“There was no point competing with 2GB, so the radio station had to try something else,” Mr Webster said.
“We talk about travel, health, gardening and other lifestyle topics, and keep it interesting and entertaining.
“It is early days, but we hope we can build an audience who wants to listen to something different.
“We’ve gone through to Brisbane and Melbourne on the old Magic stations.
“It normally had a lot more music so people were unimpressed at first, but we’ve had a lot of calls, particularly from Brisbane, and emails from Melbourne in the past week.”
He kicks off his three hours on air with The Morning Mix on weekdays at 9am, which involves Mr Webster offering his opinions on various lifestyle topics the station covers.
Mr Webster later presents Talking Travel from 10am to 11am on weekdays, which provides listeners with the best travel tips and deals.
His final show of the day is The Home Show, from 11am to noon, which provides tips and ideas for renovating the house.
“Travel has become a recent passion of mine,” Mr Webster said.
“I really enjoy cruising. I thought you would get bored of it, but you don’t.”
He encouraged people to get travel insurance and pack as light as possible.
Mr Webster is known for his time as a TV presenter for Ten, including being bitten by a snake at the 2003 Logies, but radio was his way into the media industry.
“Radio was my first love. I was first on radio in 1973, but it was good to get back on radio when I joined 2UE (in 2005) and now Talking Lifestyle,” he said.
Mr Webster grew up in Bondi, but now calls The Hills region home after moving to the area in the early 1990s.
