HAWKESBURY Council wanted to thank all the volunteers who participated in this year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 5.
Hundreds of Hawkesbury residents at 28 separate sites helped to remove litter from the region’s streets, parks, and bushland.
There were 11 community sites, four youth groups and 13 schools registered for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day.
Richmond Girl Guides cleaned up Pugh’s Lagoon with 21 volunteers, Pitt Town Progress Association had over 30 volunteers at four different locations, and at Kurrajong Public School, 240 students participated by cleaning up their school.
Nation-wide, over 566,000 Australians volunteered at over 6,200 locations across Australia and collected 13,739 tonnes of litter.
