HAWKESBURY Cricket Club young gun Arjun Nair is free to play for the club in the one-day final on Sunday at Howell Oval, Penrith, after he was not named for NSW’s Sheffield Shield match.
Nair is a certain starter in Hawkesbury’s XI, with the club sweating on whether he was called up to the NSW for the match, which starts on Saturday.
However, Pat Cummins, who plays for Penrith, was also not named for NSW, and is a chance to play for his club side on Sunday.
Nair’s prodigious talent as an all-rounder will be a big boost for Hawkesbury, as the club plays in its first ever final at the top of the NSW Premier Cricket competition, formerly Sydney Grade Cricket.
The match, which starts at 10am, has been called the biggest ever for Hawkesbury Cricket Club.
