MEMBER for Hawkesbury and state Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has gone on the front foot in Parliament to boast about the New South Wales economy.
Mr Perrottet took advantage of question time to sing the praises of the state’s economic position, at a time when the federal government could lose its triple-A credit rating.
If that were to happen, NSW, which currently has a triple-A rating, would be downgraded.
In Parliament, Mr Perrottet said the state government was committed to sound fiscal management.
“A triple-A credit rating provides a number of tangible benefits for the people of New South Wales,” he said.
“It allows the State to raise funds at the lowest possible cost. When interest costs are low it means that the Government can spend more on vital services while keeping the debt ratio down.
“The triple-A credit rating is an important indicator of the state's robust fiscal performance, the transparency and effectiveness of the institutions and a sound economic position.”
