WINDSOR Golf Club will host a free coaching clinic for women interested in playing golf in March.
The club will run a ‘ladies golf fun day’ on March 21 at the club, where the club professional will teach new players the basics of golf, followed by a lunch.
Ladies club vice-president Kath Stimson said the club has hosted a few of these days, over the past few years, with the first happening six years ago.
“We had about 40 ladies turn up and we all had a good day, showing them the basics of golf, how to hold the club and a few swings and so on,” she said.
“We recruited about 12 members from that day. About four have joined up with the committee now.”
Stimson said the club wanted to see more members sign up, and hoped the ‘fun day’ would encourage that.
“This is a really friendly club here, and we encourage people to come along. It won't cost them anything,” she said.
“It is not rocket science, you don't have to be glamorous or anything like that, if you are interested, or thin you might be interested, come along.”
Stimson said all the equipment would be supplied, and all people needed to bring were some appropriate shoes.
The day will run from 9.30am to 2pm.
