Following her recent appearances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Bowen Mountain’s Imogen Clark has released the third and final single from her debut album Love & Lovely Lies.
The video for the track, Drawing Hearts, was directed by Jeremy Dylan and was filmed in an art studio in Sydney.
It stars Imogen and four of her friends.
With a freewheeling country-rock swagger and playful 70s pop hooks, Drawing Hearts shows that Imogen isn’t afraid to embrace pop sensibilities and marry them to the more organic and roots-based side of her songwriting.
“Drawing Hearts encapsulates the meaning of my debut album,” Imogen said.
“It’s a view on love that is sincere and realistic, taking into account everything that has and will always go wrong, while still maintaining belief that it is a beautiful path worth taking, and still throwing yourself in the deep end.
“It’s a song for those who are fearless and hopeless romantics, refusing to give up on love, despite the fact they may have been hurt.”
Imogen has recently been in the road supporting The McClymonts.
During the festival, the 22-year-old played her first headline show to Tamworth audiences and received rave reviews.
Imogen heads to Nashville this month as the recipient of the Talent Development Project/AEG Ogden Scholarship to start writing, touring and recording new music for her next release.
She will return to Australia to perform at Australia’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks in March, as well as playing a support slot with Willie Watson.
Love & Lovely Lies debuted at number 34 on the ARIA Country Album chart and number 15 on the Australian Artist Country Albums chart.
Touted as a “songwriter well beyond her years” by Kasey Chambers, Imogen penned her debut album in hometown Bowen Mountain and travelled to the small town of Cowwarr in Victoria to record and produce it with Harry and Jack Hockey at Knutsen’s Studios.
The first single released, Take Me For A Ride, peaked at number one on the iTunes Country Singles Chart and was soon followed by the ballad, You’ll Only Break My Heart, which reached number one on the Country Music Channel.
