Two great feel-good events west of the river are open to everyone on the Australia Day public holiday.
First up there’s Kurrajong Comleroy Historical Society’s annual Australia Day breakfast from 9-11am at the hut in Bowen Mountain Park. Bring your own breakfast – whether it’s cereal, or bacon and eggs. There is an electric undercover barbecue, tongs, oil, a kitchen with fridge, cutlery, plates, table and chairs, tea and coffee. John Slavan will talk on the Crago Observatory. Contact: 4567 7410.
Kids will love Hawkesbury Bells Line Lions Club’s annual Australia Day Celebration Breakfast at McMahons Park, Kurrajong Village 8.30am-12.30pm, with old-fashioned games such as sack and egg and spoon races, and a delicious barbecue breakfast.
