LOCALS in the market for a new pair of specs will have the unique pleasure of meeting a fully trained guide dog if they visit Specsavers in Richmond Marketplace this Saturday, December 10.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT ambassador dog, Milo, will be in-store on the day, meeting customers and showing off his skills.
Milo’s visit to the store will mark its seventh year of serving local customers, during which time the shop has raised almost $10,000 for a number of charities.
Specsavers Store Partner and Optometrist Binh Tran said $5 from every eye exam conducted this Saturday will be donated to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
“While we work to enable clear sight, not everyone’s vision can be solved with glasses. To people who are blind or significantly vision impaired, the charity gives orientation and mobility training and has access to assistive technology on top of the guide dogs,” he said.
Since the store opened in December 2009, the team has carried-out over 60,000 eye tests and sold almost 89,000 pairs of glasses.
