TWO wooden bridges along Upper Macdonald Road, Higher Macdonald, will be replaced with new concrete ones in 2017.
Hawkesbury Council, during a confidential meeting on November, resolved to replace the bridges.
Council’s manager of construction and maintenance Richard Vaby said construction was expected to begin at the start of 2017.
“Council at its meeting held on Tuesday, 29 November 2016 accepted tenders for reconstruction of two existing bridges at Upper Macdonald Road, Higher Macdonald,” he said.
“These timber bridges are in poor condition and have reached the end of their economic life.
“Construction of the new concrete bridges is expected to commence from February 2017. The bridges are anticipated to be completed mid-2017.”
Council’s meeting minutes from the meeting said that Civilbuild Pty Ltd had won the contract.
The cost of replacing the bridges was $1,444,667, according to the business paper.
