A NUMBER of Hawkesbury schools gathered at Colo High to recognise White Ribbon Day, and raise awareness about violence against women.
Colo hosted a touch football competition called the White Ribbon Cup, with students from Richmond North, Kurrajong and Kurmond Public Schools playing in the primary schools competition, and Hawkesbury and Richmond High Schools played against Colo.
There was also an opens competition, and a team from the RAAF came along for the game. RAAF also performed a flyover on the day.
Colo High School PE teacher, Beau Plummer, said this is the second time the school has organised activities to recognise White Ribbon Day.
“It’s important to raise awareness, and to create a safe, supportive learning environment for all students,” Mr Plummer told the Gazette.
White Ribbon Day is recognised annually around Australia, with a number of events and campaigns to help prevent men’s violence against women.
