WHAT do you buy the person who has everything? That’s a way harder question than this one – what do you buy someone who has next to nothing?
When you donate a present to the Hawkesbury Bells Line Lions Club and Harmony Fashion giving tree, you’ll known your money will be put to good use as the recipients are those who may well get nothing else this Christmas.
All the recipients will be the children of women fleeing domestic violence who have contacted the Women’s Cottage in Richmond for help.
Lions member Beryl Payne said many children and mums miss out on a Christmas present. This is because of lack of money or because they are living in emergency accommodation, or when still at home but in a dangerous situation.
“Once again we ask those in the community to help by selecting a tag from the tree and coming back with an unwrapped gift or one in a gift bag ,” she said. Volunteers will wrap the presents, which need to be checked for safety.
She said last year they got a heap of presents for mums but this year it’s toys they need more.
The tree is in Harmony Boutique in Park Mall, Richmond, opposite the park on Windsor Street.
“We thank all those who have donated in the past and helped to make other Hawkesbury people’s Christmas a little better.
“It helps them to know others care.”
