Pencil in Friday, December 2 to see a wonderful slew of short Australian films on the lives of people with a disability.
Called Access all Areas the film festival is short and sweet – from 10am-11am.
It features lots of little but uplifting movies such as A Boy Named Su; Woody; My Parents; The Globe Collector; Small; Ari; Spaghetti; Woven Threads and Matthew Turner: Unsung Hero.
The last is a five-minute film about a Northern Territory tour guide who takes tourist groups around Alice Springs Desert Park.
Matt Turner looks like he’s only 14 years old but is actually 27, and talks about his upbringing, his life in a wheelchair and scooter and his job at the park, which he loves.
Other guides there say he’s wonderful to work with, and that he’s now actually the longest-servicing guide in the park, which features spectacular scenery, kangaroos and hawks.
The festival will be held in Hawkesbury Central Library, George Street, Windsor to celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities.
All movies are classified G, with open captions and audio description.
Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Suitability for viewing is at the discretion of the parent/carer.
It’s free and there’s no need to book.
