HAWKESBURY Council will establish a tourism committee to replace its working group.
Independent councillor Paul Rasmussen put forward a Notice of Motion at Council’s October 25 meeting to replace the working group.
Cr Rasmussen said the committee would have a wider scope and could work in a more proactive way.
He said there were a number of opportunities the committee could explore.
Liberal Councillor Sarah Richards will be added to the committee.
She said the Hawkesbury region had enormous tourism potential.
Council established the working group earlier this year.
It follows the state government creating a Hawkesbury tourism group in September as well, which will feature people from Destinations NSW, businesses and local people.
