It’s hard to know what to write about Sunday’s match.
We really did experience the highs and the lows after being 2-0 up before having to settle for a 2-2 draw with the Newcastle Jets.
We started so well with Aritz Borda and then our new captain, Dimas Delgado both scoring too and giving us a good lead.
But we’re very disappointed not to have gone on with the job from there and take the win.
To play a very strong half – very similar to the way we played last season – but then let them back into the game is very disappointing.
Sloppy turnovers and not being ruthless enough to get the third goal gave the Jets a chance and as we began to defend deeper and deeper they scored off two set pieces.
While we did have a very strong opening 60 minutes, right now it counts for nothing because we didn’t capitalise and win the game.
The positive is that we’re only going to get better and build on what we have this season, especially considering at the same point last year we didn’t even have a win by this stage.
It was also great to finally get out and play at our new home ground at Spotless Stadium at Olympic Park.
The atmosphere was very good: it was a great crowd like always and good to have the RBB so loud and behind us.
Hopefully we can turn it into a fortress like we did at Parramatta, and I’d love for you to come out and experience it.
We play there again this Saturday as we take on Central Coast Mariners: kick-off is at 7:50pm with tickets available from Ticketmaster and on the gate.
