HAWKESBURY Cricket Club’s Arjun Nair got a shot against South Africa while playing in a two-day tour match in Adelaide.
The match was a warm-up one for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
South Africa dominated the match against the team of up and coming players, with only Matt Short scoring more than double digit runs.
Nair bagged two wickets during the game and opened the batting, in a match where South Africa scored 415 to the Cricket Australia XI’s 103.
Nair has also been playing for the CA XI in the Matador Cup, which was won on the weekend by NSW.
He played in four of the six matches played by the game, and was always among the wickets.
He made a 67 run stand in one match, though had low scores or did not bats in the other matches.
With the Matador Cup now finished, Nair is a chance to be called into the NSW Sheffield Shield, though if he is not needed this early in the season, he was named to play for Hawkesbury’s first grade side for the ongoing match against Sydney University.
